Bob Dylan Coming to Town II

2006 August 20
by Liz

So, I am curious to hear any review of the show last night.

The consensus among my friends was that we’d pass on this one and spend our money on something else. Apparently, about 10,000 people thought otherwise.
Liz and I drove past the stadium at about 5:00 last night and the parking lots were already full, despite not opening the stadium for admisson, yet.

I am also curious if there were any Dylan sightings around town, like dropping in at Waffle House for breakfast on the way out of town?

The concert Saturday the 19th was pretty awesome.
The play was as followed: (Not really in order but as close as I could get)
    Maggie’s Farm
    These Times they are a-changin
    Lonesome Blues
    To Ramona
Stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues again
Till I fell in Love with you
    Girl from North County
    Cold Iron Bound
    Positively 4th Street
    Highway 61 Revisited
    Summer Day
    Sugar Baby
    Like A Rolling Stone
    All along the Watch Tower

The place was jam packed. The opening acts were pretty good, but you could till everyone was anticipating Dylan.
He played really well. He had an odd setup, right side of the stage, long ways not facing the crowds. The people were really cool, All but the kid that was standing in front of me with his funky ass hat, who refused to remove it. But it really didnt damper much. Dylan didn’t talk to the crowds at all however, he laughed or giggled once. Before playing Like A Rolling Stone he introduced his band, which was great. He was rocking that’s for sure; I could see the sweat dripping off of him. I finally managed to make it almost to the front of the stage, I had to see him, to get as close as I could. I was in awe of him. The only downfall was that beer was $7.00 a pop, totally robbery. I didn’t sneak a camera in, but I did see a few. However every time I saw a flash the security was on that person like immediately. So truthfully, Im glad I didnt so I didnt have to worry about that. Best song he played, I liked them all, however Cold Iron Bound was rocking. Im not extremely familiar with Time out of Mind but that song was rasied the roof. To see him live finally has enabled me to move out of the 60s. Ive been stuck here because there so much to learn about him still from the 60s. Im looking forward to the 80s and so forth, to moving on. Anyway it was something I will keep close to me forever and I would have changed a thing.
