Fast Friends Greyhound Rescue

2006 March 28
by Liz

If you've ever considered adopting a retired racing greyhound, check out this article from Monday's Frederick News-Post.

We rescued an ex-racer back in 1993, but at the time there was no local Frederick agency to assist in placing dogs here in Frederick.  If I remember correctly, the rescue agency we went with was located in Columbia, and when we were matched up with our dog, we had to go north of Baltimore to pick him up.

Greyhounds can be awesome pets if you like a big dog who sleeps quite a bit.  It's OK too, because the poor things have to work so hard their first few years of life.  I figure they should have a nice leisurely retirement!

Thanks, Jill. I was wondering why there was no link to the organization in the article and was hoping someone would supply that. Thanks again!

We actually adopted a greyhound from this group. It ended up not working out, and they were wonderful about it. Everyone we met/worked with is awesome, they really love what they are doing!
