A couple quick news hits …

WFMD reports that Old Town Frederick shops giving out cookies to customers during the monthly Gallery Walk would have to buy a $15 one day food permit and undergo inspection by the health department. BTW, the Gallery Walk is this Saturday. BTW again, looks like the Downtown Frederick Partnership redesigned their website.

The best quote of the week comes from the Mayor of New Market - ‘‘We’re not trying to pimp the developers.â€? The word pimp makes me think of Kramer and then I smile. Simple pleasures.

Speaking of mayors (not pimps) the Mayor of Hagerstown up and quit this week.

And lastly, this is an interesting take on a smoking ban. Don’t worry I’m not trying to relive the great comment debate of ’05 on this topic, just thought I would share.

There’s not debating this one: it’s a good idea. As long as the choice is in the hands of the business owner it is fair.

This would also level the playing field to the extent that theories around the perceived benefits of smoking ban legislation can be measured objectively.
