The January 2006 issue of Frederick Magazine reports that the Cheesecake Factory may be coming to Frederick. Mathew Robb reports In The Dish that the Factory will be located ” … within a stone’s throw of FSK Mall.”
If this tidbit is true it would be great! I wouldn’t have to travel down to White Flint to get my White Chocolate Chunk Macadamia Nut cheesecake fix. Until this dream comes true you can also go to Columbia Mall for some cheesecake love.
Another rumor I heard is that MaggieMoo’s may be coming to Frederick. I suppose they could give Cold Stone Creamery a run for their money, but my favorite is still Freez-King.
Do you have any rumors to contribute?

Hi, Guy, Matthew Robb (lifestyles editor, Frederick Magazine), checking in.
The Chesecake Factory rumor that I reported on is straight from a commercial development firm, but the timeline is sketchy and these things sometimes fall apart.
Frederick Magazine gets lots of inquiries re: Cheesecake Factory and many other high-profile restaurants. Lots of people ask if Wegman’s Food Market or Whole Foods are coming here. Short answer: No.
As my column reported in the January 2006 Frederick Magazine, The Green Turtle is set for a February debut in Mt. Airy.
If your readers are looking for the latest happenings on the mid-Maryland restaurant scene, check out “The Dish” over the next few months. There’s lots planned on the horizon, including My Organic Market (MOM), at Westview Promenade.
I’ll be sure to check in here, to expand on these rumors and coming appearances.

Is Sonic coming to Frederick?

I haven’t heard anything and I didn’t see anything on their site, but I woudln’t be suprised if one popped up in the county before too long.

3 more rumors that I have been hearing are
Old Navy, Dave & Busters and Cheesecake Factory. Is there any truth to this rumors?

Cheesecake factory looks like a go. I think Old Navy is not true and I haven’t heard anything about Dave and Busters. Thanks!

Corporations typically shy away from opening new franchises and chains during recessions and inflationary periods such as this. Once the economy rebounds, we might see a flurry of pent-up activity, but I think this mindset explains why the 2008 grand opening of Wegman’s might be a bit optimistic.
