Frederick Radio Disc Jockey Going to Iraq

From WHAG

A local man has been called up and could be heading to Iraq. It’s someone you may not recognize until you hear his voice.

“He’s that guy that when he’s overseas and he’s serving that everybody will remember,â€? said Delana Bennett, Morning Host, Key 103.

Key 103 morning man Dan Stevens doesn’t have much time before he signs off the air and signs on for active military duty. Stevens served for three years in the army in the late 80′s, but a few months after 9-11, he decided it was time to serve his country again and joined the Army Reserves.

I wish him good luck and a safe return to his family and friends.

I was once in an class with him at FCC and he was a great guy. I had been sitting in the back of the class with him cracking jokes for a coupel of weeks before he mentioned that he was a DJ at Key 103… At the time I think he was just doing traffic and late night/weekend stuff, so seeing him become the morning guy was pretty cool.
anyway, he was a good guy, funny as hell, and I wish him a speedy and safe return!

When I moved to Frederick in 2001, I was forced to listen to Country stations and could not even get Key 103. After messing with the FM dial one morning, I found a station without country moooozic (sorry-it just doesn’t gel with my soul)and started listening to this very funny, goof ball dj, Dan Stevens. Have never changed the station since….Hope you come home soon-I miss you already and so does Mad Dog Murphy!!
