Frederick made MTV News again. This is all about the students that were quoted in the Frederick News-Post about drinking at prom. I remember thinking while reading that story “Your in trouble.”
I drank after my prom, but I didn’t advertise in a newspaper. Or a blog … Mom don’t read this!
Stupid, stupid.
I guess she thought she was being cool?
Yeah, those kids WERE stupid, and I’M the Mom that they didn’t want reading that story! No, I’m not the mom of EITHER of those kids, but I am the mom of a TJ student. Not only did I email the Frederick police THE MOMENT I read that story, but I also contacted Marty Tarr, principal at TJ. To the police I suggested the possibility that stating for the record that you INTEND to commit a crime ought to yield AT LEAST house arrest on the stated date, and to the principal I requested that those kids be banned from school sponsord activities. The police called me back that very same day to say they were working on the situation, and Ms Tarr emailed me to tell me she was having meetings about it.
Based on recent letters to the Frederick News Post, my views on this matter were not popular ones. However, I stand behind them. Keeping even ONE drunk kid off the road is worth it to me. I’ve known too many people who have lost friends and loved ones to drunk drivers.
Losing out on a prom is far better than losing out on life.
