California Tortilla Invades Frederick
I did not partake in the free burrito event because when I drove by the store the line was out the door. People really come out of the woodwork for free food. So I chose to wait until it was a little less crowded.
I have actually eaten at the California Tortilla in Rockville so I know the food is dope! So when we went for lunch on Saturday I had my burrito card from Rockville and I was due a free burrito (buy 7 and get the 8th free). When they redeemed the card they rang a bell and yelled “free burrito” in a bull horn, lots of fun.
I got the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla and my wife got the Crunchy BBQ Ranch (CBR) burrito. I really liked the quesadilla, but I would recommend getting it without the BBQ. My wife loves the CBR burrito, which combines chicken, ranch dressing, BBQ sauce, and chips (that is where the crunchy comes in). She got the small (which is huge) and couldn’t quite finish it.
The place also has a wall of hot sauces for everyone to try. My favorite is the Gator Sauce, a semi-sweet not so hot sauce that is good on just about everything.
My only complaint about the place was I could hardly hear my number being called, probably because it was so busy in there. Other than that it is good food, a fun atmosphere, and has decent prices. Also, they must love giving stuff away because a sign on the door said there would be free chili on January 19th.
I drove past California Tortilla on January 13th also. Like you said..People must have come out of the woods for free food. The line was wrapped clear around the building and almost to the Giant. AMAZING! I have not been able to get over there to buy one either. I heard that its amazing food….I cant wait to try Cold Stone Creamery also….YUMMY….Although with the weather now..and as cold as it is. I dont want to look like a weirdo eating ice cream!

California Tortilla – very yummy. The portions were huge and they had a great selection of crazy burritos. The chips and salsa were also very good!
