Furniture Store Taking Over Vacant Ames Space
Here is an article about a new tenant coming to the now vacant Ames store in the 7th Street shopping center.
The space vacated by discount retail store Ames at the 217,500-sf Frederick Shopping Center has now been designated as a new home for Ashley Furniture. The Arcadia, WI-based international home furnishings manufacturer signed a lease with property owner JBG Rosenfeld Retail to occupy the 62,000-sf space.
Located on W. 7th St. near I-270, Frederick Shopping Center has been serving area residents for the last four decades. The property, which underwent a renovation in 1990, boasts a varied tenant roster that features anchor tenant Giant Eagle grocery store, which occupies 52,000 sf. Other occupants include CVS, Hallmark, Papa John’s Pizza, Sherwin-Williams paint store, and Chevy Chase Bank, which just signed on to occupy a new 3,000-sf pad site at the center.
I am glad to see someone finally taking over that space. Here is the link to Ashley Furniture in case you are interested.

UPDATE: Ashley’s Furniture store is now open.
