I love Halloween! Ever since my mom made me the perfect Stormtrooper costume I was hooked (thanks mom). What is better than dressing up as your favorite character and getting paid in mini-Snickers bars for it. Now that I am old, my Stormtrooper costume doesn’t fit, and I can get all the mini-Snickers bars I want, Halloween has lost it’s luster. But it doesn’t have to be that way! There is a bevy of scary activities in Frederick for those that still yearn for Halloween fun.

Take a Candlelight Ghost Tour of Old Town Frederick. The tour is ” … based upon factual events and actual eyewitness encounters [and] highlights numerous epicenters of paranormal activity located in historic downtown-Frederick.”

You can get your grub on and be scared at the same time when you do the Ghost Dinner at Gabriel’s Inn. Guests enjoy a meal, tour, and a bunch of ghost stories about the inn. The dinners take place each Friday and Sunday in October, call 301-865-5500 for details.

To be really scared crapless visit one of the many haunted houses, trails, woods, or other frightening locations in the area. Try Markoff’s Haunted Forest, Taneytown’s Haunted Barn, or the Panic Asylum at the Keys Stadium. Check out this site for more scary ass places in Maryland.

If you want to go on your own ghost hunt check out the Maryland Ghost and Spirits Association’s Frederick County page. You can also pick up the latest edition of Frederick Magazine for articles on six of Frederick’s haunted locations.

There is also a scary movie coming out this weekend: Shall We Dance (kidding) along with the funny Team America: World Police. Another non-scary event is the Oktoberfest at Schifferstadt.

Did I miss any frightful events? If so please share them in the comments.
